Photos Need Rest, Too.
ckck:
Huh? What? Let me explain. Some photos you know you love even before you click the shutter button. The moment, the composition, the angle, the subject, the light, all in perfect synergy. If only every shot turned out as we imagined them in our heads, but a camera can only capture so much, so not everything we see may look as good through the camera’s eye.But even if you don’t instantly love a shot, and unless it’s completely terrible (though if it is, it will probably be gone before it even reaches your computer), keep it for awhile. Let it rest, then come back to it later; a day, a week, a month, or more and maybe that photo that had such potential but didn’t spark that instant love may show you something new.
Sometimes, when I have the time, I like to look through the archives, and more often than not I’ll see something new, something interesting, something worthwhile in a shot that gives it new life. It could be as simple as turning it black and white, or trying a different crop that focuses on a smaller detail and not the whole.
So don’t delete those photos right away, keep them for awhile, come back and maybe, just maybe, they’ll show you something you didn’t see the first time.
